Plain-English terms for a plain-English app. By downloading or using Threadcheck you agree to what follows.
LAST UPDATED · 12 JUNE 2026
Threadcheck is an iOS app that reads clothing care labels and product pages, and returns information about a garment: its fibre composition, care instructions, certifications, an A–E grade, and related estimates. It's a shopping companion — a well-read friend in the fitting room, not an oracle.
This is the clause that matters most, so it goes near the top. Grades, scores, durability and quality reads, toxicity indicators, health notes, and estimated make costs are informed estimates generated by software, derived from what a label or product page discloses. They say so on every card. They can be wrong: labels lie occasionally, OCR misreads occasionally, models err occasionally.
Threadcheck offers free scans so you can see exactly what you'd be paying for, and auto-renewing subscriptions (weekly and 3-monthly) for unlimited scanning after that.
Don't script, scrape, resell, or bulk-automate the service; don't probe, overload, or attempt to circumvent scan limits; don't use Threadcheck output to build a competing dataset or service. We may throttle or refuse service to traffic that behaves like a bot rather than a person with a garment in hand.
Scans you save live on your device and remain yours. The text submitted for analysis is used to produce your result and operate the service, as described in the Privacy Policy.
The app, its design, its grading approach and its content are ours. Trade marks mentioned on cards — brand names, certification marks, branded fibres like TENCEL™ or REPREVE® — belong to their respective owners; referencing them is description, not affiliation or endorsement.
Threadcheck is provided "as is" and "as available". To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim warranties of fitness for a particular purpose, and we're not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from use of the app — including purchase decisions made with the help of a card. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including any non-excludable consumer guarantees that apply in your country (such as those under the Australian Consumer Law).
We may update the app, the grading methodology, and these terms as the product evolves. Material changes to the terms will be reflected on this page with a new date. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept it.
