COMMON QUESTIONS
My scan failed or misread the label. What should I do?
Care labels are hostile terrain — crumpled, faded, six languages deep. Flatten the label, get it in even light, and fill the frame with the text. If it still misreads, email us a description of the label (or the product link) and we'll look at it; real-world failures directly improve the scanner.
How do I restore my subscription on a new phone?
Open the app, go to Settings → Restore purchases. Subscriptions live on your Apple account, so signing into the App Store with the same Apple ID is all that's needed.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Subscriptions are managed by Apple: open Settings → your name → Subscriptions on your iPhone (or tap here), choose Threadcheck, and cancel. You keep access until the end of the paid period. We don't do retention tricks.
I used my free scans. Can I try more before subscribing?
The free tier is two scans, which is enough to see the full card you'd be paying for. If yours were eaten by a blurry label or an error, email us — we're reasonable about it.
Are my photos uploaded anywhere?
No. The label photo is read on your iPhone using on-device text recognition; only the recognised text is sent for analysis. Photos are kept only if you save a scan, and only on your phone. Details in the privacy policy.
The grade seems wrong for this garment.
Grades are estimates built from what the label discloses — natural fibres up, certifications and recycled content up, synthetics down. If a label under-discloses, the grade can only reflect what's printed. If you think we got it genuinely wrong, send us the label or link; we review these.
Does it work outside Australia?
Yes. The scanner reads labels in any of the usual label languages and handles AU, EU, US, UK and JP sizing conventions. Paste-a-link works with most retailer product pages worldwide.
What does "fair-use 100 scans/day" mean?
Unlimited plans have a 100-scans-per-day ceiling per device. It exists to stop bots, not people — if you're scanning by hand, you will never notice it.
